I always liked old looking shoes with
yellowed out rubber soles,

because I like the idea of feeling new,
but looking as if I’ve been worn before.

but maybe my shoes
just look dirty.

I wish you could see the love
in being worn.
in being turned over and over like pages in a book someone has read a thousand times.

I have notes for you. I’m not afraid to be dog eared. Tell me your favorite anything and I’ll remember. Tear bits of me out if you must. If you truly love me, however, steal me entirely and don’t return me.
